The Band
Fakira has been the flagbearer of lost and ancient folk culture, literature, and songs of Bengal. Due their cultural uniqueness and relevance they have achieved significant success in the promotion and creation of awareness thus giving a new life to this long-lost art form.
They have regularly collaborated and actively engaged with the well-known experts of this genre of music, namely, Kanaidas Baul, Laxmandas Baul, Radheshyamdas Baul, Arman Fakir with the aim of learning and experiencing their philosophy. They’ve then tried to preserve the essence of this ancient musical art-form by recreating the same using a combination of traditional and modern instruments to maintain its authenticity yet make it more appealable to the masses.
The response to their music has been immense and has breached geographic boundaries. People connect with the soulful ancient lyrics and instruments of these songs and the modern touch gets their feet tapping.
For 11 years now Fakira has been successfully performing in live concerts globally showcasing the unique roots of Bengal via the verses and music of the bauls. Their fame has only increased in the recent years and their efforts have also caught the eyes of the mainstream media as one of the top bands in the country.
