Apurba Das

Apurba was born and brought up in Kolkata. The beginning of a cultural and philosophical exchange between, and the amalgamation of the various genres of music was one of the highlights of the musical era of the eighties. Apurba found himself deeply involved in these activities around the end of nineties.

With well-known and established bauls and fakirs as his guide and guru Apurba dove deep into their life, their teachings, their culture and their music. This led to action on preserving the ancient musical form and Apurba started learning a plethora of ethnic string-instruments. Success came soon as people connected to his unique sound signature featuring a beautiful combination of the old and the new.

Not long after, Apurba and Fakira found each other and realized that there was a pretty much a match made in heaven. Fakira’s traditional sounds have not only been bolstered by his addition, his unique efforts in carrying forward Bengals ancient culture and heritage has established Fakira as a beacon of the folk culture of Bengal.
